Games and Oldskool Fun
Another one of JayIsGames discoveries. This wonderfully simple game, called Chup. It’s a puzzle game disguised in an oldskool platform look. It has charm by the boatloads. When the chiptune music starts, you know it’s going to be fun. Don’t let yourself be distracted by the screen shots, you need to experience the simplicity of the gameplay, and the depth of wanting to get the most out of it. There are 3 ways metrics to take into account (time, number of items recovered and number of jumps). Is it always possible to get them all in one going, I’m not sure.

Java and JavaScript
In a previous post, I mentioned how user-friendly Android is for developers. There’s extensive documentation and information on the architecture, the different components and best practices. However, the documentation has a few blind spots. Many of the tools have little documentation and no usage examples. The information is there, it’s just hidden behind a few layers of Android theory.

When I started this blog, I used to feature a few “dream” items from time-to-time. Stuff that would be cool to have, but was out of my financial capabilities. I haven’t done this recently, because I’m a little more focused on what is within my means. However, Quark Expeditions has tickled that part of my brain that wants the impossible (or at least things that require a certain dedication to get).

A long time ago, I decided it was about time I got rid of all my vinyl records. I have a very modest collection containing mostly very high quality 12″ LPs. But my collection is just too small and my turntable too old that in practice, I hardly ever listen to them. It’s too bad, because the music is brilliant.
