Now that my new office is starting to come together, I have begun research into ways of storing all my files in a central location on the network. This has several advantages: they can be used from every device that is connected to my home network and I only have to backup one device.

In the arena for next generation Internet applications, a lot of players have been positioning themselves, but none has really got an edge. Not yet. Flex in combination with Spring’s BlazeDS integration is one contender you definitely shouldn’t ignore. Even if you are a Java programmer, it might be time to branch out into somewhat unknown territories (although you will recognize many constructs and patterns)

One of my main gripes with any virtual reality installation have always been the visuals. Real, high-res 3D images are quite hard to recreate. However, as technology progresses, it seems we are finally nearing the point of true immersive 3D. Recently, a number of video goggles have appeared that might be the answer to this problem.

One thing I remember vividly from my time going to demoparties, is the glow at night. Usually there were no, or very little lights on, yet the entire room was lit by computer monitors (CRTs, back then) Personally, I don’t like to use a monitor at night without background light. It’s just so bright on my eyes. Obviously, you can tweak the brightness and contrast settings, but why risk messing up your perfect daytime settings?
